Soirée Guinguette

The FACC, Alliance Francaise and Chef Henry Emmanuel invite you to a Guinguette :
a very special French BBQ for "Francophonie" Day.
In the 18th century, consumerism took isolated villages outside Paris by storm. Commodities, including alcohol,outside the city limits were considerably cheaper. Guinguettes became the fashion, offering food, drinks and dancing in a picturesque countrysetting. Today a guinguette is refered to in France as a waterside refreshment place, particularly in the open air.
Chef Emmanuel Henry will personally prepare the traditional Guinguette menu of French BBQ, salad and dessert accompanied by different cheeses and wines with the help of the produces of Olde World Farms, Bryan Farms, Houston Dairy Maids, The French Farms and several other vendors.
The party includes a painting exhibition by Swiss artists Anne-Joelle Galley, Catherine Winkler-Rayroud and Barbara Brown Tennant organized by the Swiss American Society of Houston, live music by Stephan Badreau and table games.
Moreover, the FACC Houston, the Alliance Francaise and Diner is Possible are delighted to welcome Ambassador Moussa Camara, Permanent Representative to the United Nations of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie. A formal introduction in French will be followed by a cocktail reception from 5:00PM until 6:00PM
