COCOON (SOBER & GENTLE / MINTY FRESH)

Cocoon is a must-see male/female folk duet who echoes American pop talents such as Elliot Smith and Sufjan Stevens. With vocal harmonies, fingerpicked acoustic guitars and buoyant ukulele, Cocoon injects grace and a suave sensibility into an Americana soundscape.

DEAD SEXY INC. (ENRAGE PROD.)

Well-known for their hardcore hybrid of glam rock and electro propelled by a driving punk sound,  Dead Sexy Inc. started in Hollywood in 2003, where the french three piece got picked up by Cleopatra Records, Larry Tee and few others key techno rock icons. Their last album, Kamikaze (2007) was recorded between L.A., New York and Paris. Their remixes of such artists as Marylin Manson, Indochine and Nun have garnered much attention in both the U.S and Europe. Relocated between Berlin and Paris, Dead Sexy Inc. will aim for a new album in winter 2010.

HEY HEY MY MY (SOBER & GENTLE)

“Hey hey my my, rock and roll will never die…”: the french duo composed of Julien Garnier and Julien Gaulier have made Neil Young’s famous song their motto or as an homage to all of the artists who influenced them. Their irresistible folk pop ballads give instinctive blend of enthusiasm and melancholy inspired by The Beatles, Blonde Redhead, Nirvana and The Pixies, just to mention a few.

KID BOMBARDOS (SOBER & GENTLE)

Their average age may only be 19 but this band is not a mere flash in the pan. With two guitars, a bass, and a drum kit, the three brothers Martinelli and a childhood friend (David Loridan) have been influenced by New York Rock, Velvet Underground and the candor of British Pop. Beyond concerts in famous french venues and festivals, Kid Bombardos were very much noticed when they did the opening act for Hushpuppies and Vampire Weekend.

HICKEY UNDERWORLD (NAÏVE)

Produced by the Das Pop chaps, their self-titled debut album The Hickey Underworld sold 3,500 copies in its first week on the strength of the band’s live reputation alone. They won Humo’s Rock Rally, Belgian’s largest music competition. Through their album and concerts, their songs reflect part post-hardcore catharsis, part discordant melody and above all; noise, anger and energy.

STUCK IN THE SOUND (DISCOGRAPH)

Two years after Nevermind the Living Dead, the song ToyBoy integrated on the Guitar Hero World Tour, and more than 200 concerts, Stuck in The Sound is back with Shoegazing Kid. Mixed by the infamous American sound engineer Nick Sansano (Sonic Youth, Public Enemy), this second opus confirms the band as a major new fixture on France's indie rock scene.

GENERAL ELEKTRIKS (DISCOGRAPH / QUANNUM)

General Elektriks is the brainchild of Hervé ‘RV’ Salters. A French national, and a keen vintage keyboard player, Salters was playing keys for his bands and for various artists in Paris (Femi Kuti, DJ Mehdi…) before he moved to the US in 1999. After “Cliquety Kliqk”, Salters returned with a second opus “Good city for dreamers” (2008)  which breaks genre barriers by mixing psychedelia, soul, old-school pop, sampling, indie rock, hip hop and free jazz.

BETWITCHED HANDS (SAVOIR FAIRE)

Five men and one woman that makes twelve bewitched hands putting a spell on you, pop lovers! With incendiary choruses, psychotropic beats and catchy melodies, The Bewitched Hands composes the kind of tunes that may go straight into your Top 5 of rainbow coloured popsongs. Discovered at some of the best festivals in France (Transmusicales, Printemps de Bourges, Eurockéennes...), they are about to tour in the US around SXSW, in the UK in May, and in Europe for summer festivals this year.
