Esther, an elderly Jewish woman, needs permanent assistance. But her bad temper exhausts her nurses and the most recent one just resigned. Her son, Elie, does not know what to do until Selima, the daily nurse, suggests the help of her mother, Halima, a practicing Muslim. Surprisingly, the two women develop a deep mutual understanding, Halima helping Esther to enjoy life once again.
